Standing at the only platform, in front of the old 1846 Station Building, with the only coach the NVR could muster at that time. For passenger-carrying runs, a brake van was attached as the coach was not fitted with a handbrake!
The shed code plate is difficult to make out, but other pictures around that time show that it was 1A - a nod to Willesden and the exhibition of 1954 where she made her first public appearance.
There’s no footbridge and the loco is not yet fitted with air brakes.
