Attempts to re-weld the lower panel of the drag box in-situ have been abandoned.   The box will be removed from the frames and the thinned section cut-out and replaced ‘on-the-bench’.  The the dragbox will be refitted.    This decision has not been made lightly, requiring the removal and replacement of about 90 rivets.  However it does assure that work on the drag box can be be done under better-controlled circumstances, with every prospect of a satisfactory result.
