Frames

Dragbox is fitted into frames and bolted in place while preparation for riveting progresses.

Frame cross stays and Horn Stays painted and awaiting return of hardened bushes before fitting.

Frames are nearly covered with first coat of Underframe Gloss.  Rear section left in undercoat until dragbox is riveted in place.

Pins and Bushes

Additional set of pins and bushes almost complete made for frame transverse stays and brake hangers.  

One final bush awaiting material (arrived 10/9/20).  Once complete, all bushes will be sent for nitride hardening.

Wheels and Horns

Welding rods for repair of cracked manganese welds on axleboxes has been ordered. 10 good horn liners have been cleaned and oiled.  Stored awaiting attachment when frame painting is complete.

Cylinders and Motion

Old Piston-valve head has been dismantled to understand construction and fixing of rings and anti-ring-rotation stops.

Pipework

Work has started on cleaning in-frame pipework used for brakes and steam heat.

Frames are nearly covered with first coat of Underframe Gloss.  Rear section left in undercoat until dragbox is riveted in place.  

Bogie complete, except for some paint touch-up to recover assembly markings.   Springs fitted using in-house constructed Jig
